BASENJI

| A dog similar to the Basenji is depicted in
Egyptian
tombs of the 4th dynasty. Today's
Basenji has excellent features
to prevent heat loss and so lives well in warm and temperate
climates. Like the wolf it rarely barks but has a peculiar
howl. Its tan and white colour
provide camouflage while tracking game. The unusual
feature is that it has only one sex
cycle a year instead of two like in other dogs. It weighs about
10 kgs and is about 42 cms
tall. |
