| The Basset is heavy, long and low dog known for its pendulous
ears. It originated in France and has many characteristics of a bloodhound. Though it was
originally used for hunting it is now mostly a companion dog. But, lighter boned Bassets
with longer legs and shallower bodies still participate in field trials. They weigh
between 20-25 kgs and are about 14 inches high. They maybe tri-coloured or lemon &
white. They are usually friendly with children and adapt well to the weather. |
